I just wanted to see if anyone has had a microdiscectomy twice? If so, how was the second time around, did the surgery fix it as good as the first time or did it not help? Only reason I am asking is because I fear I have reherniated my L4L5, even though I don't have the same symptoms as I did before like pain/numbness/tingling down the left leg. I just have pain that in centeralized in the lower back. I had a microdiscectomy on my L4L5 3 years ago and I refuse to have a fusion done being only 23 years old and wanting to continue Powerlifting and I feel a fusion would put a complete stop to that dream. I've been doing a lot of research and found with fusions that there is a greater chance of needing another surgery some 10 years down the road and that with a second microdiscectomy the success rate goes down from mid 90's the first time to low 80's the second time. Also, has anyone had artificial disc replacement in their Lumbar? Been researching that but haven't had much success finding anything. I'll be meeting with my spine doctor this week after my MRI and potentially talking surgery options if I did reherniate the L4L5 but I just wanted to see if anyone has had multiple microdiscectomy or if they have had artificial disc replacement in their lumbar. Thanks for the input, I am hoping it's just a pulled or strained lower back muscle and I won't need surgery again but it's been about 3 weeks since the injury occurred and nothing has changed. Thanks.
