Pain between lower back and back of pelvis

I was lying down on the sofa this evening on my left side and when I tried to get up I got a sharp pain in my lower back and back of pelvis/hip. This pain made me unable to get up but I managed to sit up on the sofa. I then got up but the pain was unbearable so I had to sit down again. Half an hour later the pain is still there but not as intense and I am able to walk about but I seem to be walking as if a I am imitating a fat belly. I am not aware of pulling any muscle when getting up. The pain just seemed to come on when an tried to get up. I had a bad case of sciatica last year and I was told by my physiotherapist that I have a herniated disc in my lower back. Could this pain I am suffering be related to the herniated disc?
