Lower back pain post discectomy

Hi - I had a discectomy in Nov16 which relieved the leg pain but has left me with cronic lower back pain and stiffness which I didn't suffer with at all pre-surgery. Moving whilst in a lying position is particularly difficult and painful and my sleep is disturbed and day to day activities are limited. Even sitting on the sofa is painful. Anyone had similar any ideas why?
