Skiing soon after discectomy

I had a discectomy 17th Oct 2017. Progress has been amazing bar some setback due to an over enthusiastic physio.  Surgeon and physio said skiing 3.5 months after surgery would be fine but obvs to take it easy. I'm not an aggressive skier and ski blue / red pistes. No moguls or off piste. I'm not a high danger skiier but comfortable intermediate. Has anyone else been skiing that soon after surgery. Not asking for medical or advice, just how it felt and was it manageable or do you wish you'd have left it for another season? Personal experiences would be great rather than opinion.

Thanks in advance.

  • That’s too risky for me. I wouldn’t chance a slip and fall on snow/ice (especially in a pre-selected voluntary recreation type situation) that soon after surgery, but that’s just me.

  • I have to agree with L-4 L-5, why take the risk? Let it heal for a bit

I agree. Ask yourself if you want to have another surgery. Waiting would be wise.

  • I wouldn't.

My surgeon told me not to even run for 3 months after surgery.
