Epidural steriod injection

hello! I had an epidural steriod injection at my C7 2 days ago. I don't feel it helped. I'm wondering if anyone else has had one and it took longer than 2 days to work? Looking for some hope???

Thank you

  • Hi cyunak

    Welcome to Spine-health

Lots of members have had these injections with mixed results.  Some have immediate affect and are pain free, others take longer and are then pain free and other have no relief at all.  Sometimes the injections are also used as a diagnostic tool, as sometimes it can eliminate certain areas as causing the pain.

Injections didn't work for me personally, but I know of others that had very successful outcomes.

I have added two links below to help new members with information and these also contain the forum rules.  There is lots of material to research that will give you the power of knowledge.

  • Cyunak, not to give advice, but try a different pillow! Also icy/ hot cream helps some

  • Cynak, the first did not work for me.  It was in my facets.  I understood it should have worked by day 7.  I did my homework and looked where they did injections.  This time it's near the nerve root and i'm told that there's a big difference between facet and nerve spaces.  It's for diagnosis so what choice do we have?

  • I am having my second epidural this coming Tuesday. The first helped a lot for awhile. I will continue to get them. For me the benefits far out weigh the need for surgery. I also get trigger point injections in and around my neck. They help a great deal too.

    Hope for the best.

I am not a medical professional. I comment on personal experiences
  • I had diagnostic epi about 4 hours ago. The MD injecting said pain relief could be immediate to 7 days and sometimes the pain initially gets worse. I haven't yet read my post injection suggestions, but will now. Hang in there!
