Tanezumab the opioid alternative?

Back in June 2017 Eli Lilly and Pfizer got approval for fast-tracking this drug for "treating chronic pain in patients with osteoarthritis and chronic low back pain.  It's an injection given every 8 weeks. The company said if approved, it would be the first of its kind on the market."

I can't link to external sites here, but Google should get you to the article.  Anyone have any trial or knowledge of this one?  It's very encouraging to see companies spending R&D dollars here.

  • Any medication that is "fast tracked" scares the crap out of me!  Heck, they approve meds now that they have to go back and take off the market because it wasn't tested long enough and caused harm.  I will not take anything that is fast tracked.  If you ever want to see a case where pharmaceutical companies control the FDA, take a look at the diabetes drug "Victoza".  The FDA Director even said despite side effects, the company has spent a lot of money on the drug and need to recoup costs.  He overruled other doctors who said it should not be approved because of side effects.

I hope this new drug helps, but I'd like to see due diligence given to the process.
