Pain started in small toe - has since moved up into lateral calf in right leg

Anyone have sciatic issues that started in the foot and has slowly worked it's way up the leg, as opposed to the other way around?  Everything I've read and researched talks about sciatic pain that starts in the back and works its way down, but rarely the other way around.  Looking for folks with similar stories who could help share what their diagnosis was and how it was treated?
