  • It appears you didn't complete your post. I had a 4 Level cervical fusion in June 2013. The surgery helped with the headaches but I've been in pain since the surgery. I also have disphagia due to the plate being to large for my throat. My epiglottis is unable to close all the way so food get stuck. The neurosurgeon be offered to put in a smaller plate but I'm scared to do another surgery since I feel the first one failed. I did fuse so the doctor did what he was supposed to do. My pain in above and below the fusion. And it's two totally different kinds of pain. Now desperate I'm ready to go back to the surgeon to see what if anything has changed. I quit PM back in May because nothing they were giving me was working. I consider myself a great patient. I visited every month with a clean urine test, never asked for more, tried everything they suggested. Several epiderals, rhizotomy, you name it. The only thing that ever helped was the fentynol patch but after two years and a different doc but n the same practice said I could no longer take it. What do you do when your in constant pain, don't want to be labled as a drug addict,  and fear another surgery?
