Herniated disk c3,4, and 5

I’m reaching out for some help and guidance, on 2/15/18 I had an issue where my right arm was in extreme pain and then suddenly my right thumb went numb. I immediately went to see my doctor. He did an X ray and scheduled an MRI- X-ray came back with severe arthritis , MRI came back with a herniated disk c3,4, and 5 as well as arthritis severe on the right moderate on the left. I have been seeing a physical therapist as well as a chiropractor weekly since this all started. The pain in my arm has subsided and not anywhere near as bad as it was, however my thumb is still numb. My question is am I making progress with the treatment since my arm pain has died down ? and how long does it typically take for the numbness to go away ?

Thanks in advance .

  • Numbness takes time to go away, i recently had Artificial disc replacement c5-c6 level, before that I had severe pain and numbness in my rt arm., MRI showed disc prolapse, and I had developed weakness too , my surgeon suggested disc replacement, pain subsided almost immediately after surgery but numbness in my rt thumb is still persisting and power in my rt arm has returned to 80-90% of its capacity , my doc says it may take another 3 to 4 months before the numbness goes away
