is click sound in neck normal post op?

I was just wondering if other post op people  for acdf  hear a tick( or click) noise with certain head turns.I am 8 weeks since my 2 level  surgery on c 5-6/6-7 and only in the last few days have noticed it. Maybe the number 4 vertebra catches on something? I don't know.Does anyone? Thanks.

  • Yup. I am one year post op ACDF and still have the clicking. Surgeon says it may never go away.

  • did you ever find out what was making the sound? I figure it's the top edge of my screwed on plate doing it.Sometimes it's kinda loud, well, that is, my hearing notices it. Hummm [and not ever since my operation /2 months ago today/ but it seems more recently it has been doing it.

I am 18 and 24 years post ACDFs.  Still get  a clicking  noise from time to time.  X-Rays after surgery should that the fusion was fine and screws were in perfect places.

I seriously doubt that you would feel the top edge of a screw onto your plate doing it. If there was a problem with the screw and/or plate you would definitely without a question know it!

But as I tell all of my members, if you are worried about it, contact your doctor for piece of mind.

  • I am 5 months post-op and I hear clicking or some kind of neck noise.  But, it is not all the time, so I guess it's no worries.
