I had microdisectomy in June after many months of chronic pain. A month after surgery I was pain free and loving life again. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Pain started slowly in the right hip. I was on vacation and thought it migh’ve been because of an uncomfortable bed. Then I had trouble getting out of bed and knew the problem was back. Over the last couple of weeks the pain has intensified to the point of not being able to get up out of a sitting or laying position without excruciating pain. My dr has me on 100 mg of Tramedol 3x’s per day along with Gabapentin. I had an x-ray and MRI last week. The disk is herniated again (suspected fairly large reoccurret l5s1 disk herniation inpinging on S1 nerve root). It also shows small L4-5 forminal herniation with mild L4 nerve root impingement, severe degenerative changes to L5 S1 disk and very mild levoscoliosis. I have an appointment with my surgeon in 2 weeks and will be seeing his physical therapist this week. I’m wondering what’s going to happen now. Will he do another microdisectomy or because of the changes will he decided on a fusion? I know I can’t continue on the way it’s going. The pain meds barely touch the pain but because I am a stay at home mom I don’t want to take more and become incapacitated . Has anyone else had similar issues that can share any information, tips and/or pointers?
Thanks for your time.
