Continued nerve and back pain 1 year after microdicetomy

Hello just over a year ago I had a microdicectomy surgery on L5/S1. For the most part it really helped no back pain and sciatica gone. Some left leg nerve damage but mainly just numbness.

In the last 2 months the sciatica has come back and is now also in my right leg which I never had issues with before. I also have lower back pain in similar area to where the original herniation was but not all the time. I've been referred back to orthapedics but  its a long process wondered if anyone had any advice I'm unsure if this is the start of a small herniation or just an irritation of the nerve endings.

I'm trying not to get back into relying on pain killers and for the most part they don't do much overall.

I also have a hiatus hernia so need to be careful taking anti inflammatory medication
