Occipital fusion recovery experiences

I was just recently fused 0-C3 and would love to hear from others who’ve had this or simliar surgery. I know everyone recovers different but just curious about timelines and “feelings” others might have dealt with. Information is slim to zero out on the internet with this type of surgery.

  • Ive never even heard of this surgery as those discs dont really move. I'd be interested in hearing why you had it though :)

Jade8568 - There is movement at C0/C1 and C1/C2.  Those levels do not have discs like the other levels in the neck.  C0/C1 allows some movement of the head up and down.  C1/C2 allows for most of the side to side rotation of the head.  These two levels are the only levels in my neck that are NOT fused.

I agree with nutcase007, I'm fused from C2 thru T3 and fortunately I still have some ROM. I know that would not be the case if I was fused above.

I know there are other members of this forum that have experience with that fusion, hopefully they will give you more info of their journeys.
