Microdiscectomy, yes or no?

Hi, all! I’m a 28 year old female with flat back syndrome and a herniated disc st L5/S1 that is compressing my sciatic nerve. Thus far, I have maxed out on my lumbar epidural injections, taken medication, completed physical therapy, and still have no relief. It hurts so much that I’m not getting good rest and can no longer sleep in my bed, only on the couch and only on my left side. My doctor says my next step is a microdiscectomy. However, I’m a single parent to a 4 year old, and I’m not sure what to do. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!
