1 year post microdiscectomy

Hello to all. 6 months post microdiscectomy (L5S1) and I suddenly got back pain with my body getting crooked. My doctor gave me medrol 6mg for 10 days and I got well. 6 months later I had same incident and I again took medrol for 5 days. No pain post op. In general I feel fine but my back feels very sensitive. I walk daily for 40 minutes I am 43 years old and 77 kgrs.  Prior operation I had horrible left leg pain for 3 months with no neurological issues. Is my surgery considered successful ? Anything I can do to prevent another episode of back pain? Thank you.
