Spinal Stenosis

G,day All,

I have recently been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. The doc started me on 75mg Lyzalon. I took two. Did not sleep. I took for a week or so and told him it was not working, either to help sleep or decrease nerve pain. He changed me to 10mg Amitriptyline. I have taken this for 3 days. I sleep but am drowsy all next day. Will this drowsiness stop??

Gabapentin is helpful for many people with nerve pain.

I don’t know anyone who takes Amitriptyline I’m afraid.

    Welcome to Spine Health Forums

Your body takes time to process new medications, it usually takes a few days to a couple of weeks for you to know how you will react to a new medication, personally I can not take amitriptyline, I took it several years ago and started seeing things that were not there, I now take gabapentin for nerve pain, sometimes doctor's need to try several medications before the right one is found that gives you the maximum benefit. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
