Right Side Lower Back Pain

AnonymousUserAAnonymousUser Posts: 49,578

I am 29/female and have been experiencing off and on lower back pain on the right side, and it has increasingly gotten worse over the past week. The pain is mostly on the lower right side (where lower back meets tailbone/buttox area) and radiates down leg at times and a dull ache seems to be present on right side lower pelvic region (maybe sciatic nerve area??). I got an ultrasound this week and nothing was found there. I will be going back to the doc this week to see if they can figure something else out.

The only health issue I have is chronic constipation (IBS) and I have gone through all the typical colon-related tests, which all show nothing wrong, so I don't think that is related to this pain.

I work in an office setting and have tried everything to make myself sit comfortably.

I have a 3 year old who I have stopped lifting, and the pain still seems to be present.

I usually have an exercise routine that includes walking and/or running 4-5 times a week, that I have ceased at this time.

I have been resting, and nothing seems to be helping. The ache is just there. It def. gets worse when I start doing stuff, like cleaning, washing dishes, laundry, regular household tasks.

Any idea what kind of conditions could be causing this??

  • Welcome to Spine Health. Unfortunately there's no way for any of us to diagnose you. That's something that you will have to your doctor help you with.

Have they done any spine related testing at all? Any neurological exams or even any straight leg raise test?

I'm sorry that you are in such pain that you've had to stop so many things. When pain does that to us, it's time to buckle down and keep the doc motivated to find out what is causing the problem.

We can offer you support and share our own experiences, hopefully that will be of some comfort to you.

  • Shellee,

I saw this post on the other thread and gave you my answer there. Just wanted to let you know in case others put their answers there too. Generally, double posting can cause confusion so it's usually best to just post in one area, tho being new I'm sure that wasn't something you were aware of. Just thought you'd like to know.

    Take care of you.
