Ive been having pain in my right arm for the past week. It feels like the muscles are weak and sore and when I try to pick anything up that is even a lil heavy my arm almost gives out.
Has anyone else had this problem?

  • First sorry your having issues.
Remember your nerves and muscles are trying to get back into their "norm" sometimes that takes awhile for some of us.
I had some weakness but not alot. My numbness and tingling went away after the surgery.
PT of course should help with that.
If it is something you did not have before surgery I would go ahead and give your surgeon a call and explain your symptoms. It may be something they want to check.
Or it may just be part of your healing process. As we all heal differently.

I wish you the best of luck!!!!

  • I used to have that feeling a lot a few years ago. My PCP did an MRI and said I have an irregular curve to my spine, and bone spurs in the cervical area of my spine. It eventually went away over time. I used to have feelings like that, along with shooting pain down my arms to my fingers. Haven't had an issue in a while. Instead it switched to my lumbar spine! Wonderful! Lol.

  • Since you already had a C5/6 fusion only a year ago, I would definitely follow-up with the surgeon and try and get an image taken to make sure everything is ok there.
  • Hi Christina,

Whenever you have new symptoms, especially when you've already had cervical surgery, I'd urge you to call your surgeon or neurologist to run some tests just to make sure all is well.

Now, if you've been doing arm curls on just one side....that's another story LOL!

Seriously, have it checked out. It's always better to be safe than sorry. My arm got me into a lot of trouble.

  • Hi Griff,
How did your arm get you into trouble? :)

  • I had my cervical fusion a year again this month. Last month when I had it checked the donor bone showed pure white but you could see a dark line on the top and bottom and top of it where it should be fusing with my own bone. My surgeon said not to worry about it but Im thinking geesh, dont the lines being there mean the donor bone isnt fusing with my own bones. Maybe somethings wrong in my neck again causing the arm pain. I never had arm pain before just tingling in my hands and fingers. What does the arm pain usually feel like?
I feel like I can hardly use my right arm now and if I try even the smallest things like a can of soup make it pain quite a bit.
  • I reread your original post... And I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I had that exact feeling before... Like, all of a sudden there is a random pain and you almost drop what you're holding.... Or you attempt to pick something up and then when you do you get the pain. It's very odd. Mine went away, thankfully..... Let us know what your doctor says! Hope you feel better :(
