Stinging hip pain?

I have arthritis in my back, but lately I've had some pain in my hips that I can describe best as stinging. It comes and goes, but boy howdy does it bother me when it comes. Would this be due to the arthritis in my back, do you think, or is it a symptom of it now being in my hips? This crazy arthritis is sort of like nailing Jello to a wall, and it can be frustrating to try to keep figuring it out with all the reinventions it can come up with.
