I think I have made about a half dozen different forum topics talking about resizing avatars.
If your avatar is fuzzy (which many are), we can resize them for you. If you have the original, please send it to me
at rdilauro@gmail.com
Basically what I do is resize it and Save it for Web with a 85x85 resolution. Doing that has made crisper avatars

Most of the ones that I have seen that are fuzzy are ones that were setup for the old Spine-Health site or other forum sites.
Most Non-Drupal Forum sites have anywhere from a
30x30 to 60x60 pixel resolution and 10kb max size.
So, if you use one of those photos and make it your avatar here, it will be resized to fit the avatar screen.
I can take a smaller 85x85 and make it not fill the entire slot on this avatar area, but not so with other resolutions.

I've played with this with all sort of variations. Best avatars here are those SAVEd for the WEB, color and light contrast corrected, 85x85 and less than 30kb.
