My name is Tim but I also go by Gramps.

I am married almost 19 years to a wonderful woman. I am 51 years old and have had back problems for just about 31 years.

The back problems did not manifest itself until the mid 90s to the point of having three (3) lower back surgeries. I do not know which or combo of jobs I had that did the final number on my back. For the last 11 years I have had some minor back problems but they went away but in the last 2 me come into his office walking like a baby with the help of a cane, he then decided to put me in a wheelchair. For me to get any type of further work up, I have to travel 5 hours to get to the nearest VA Medical Center; yes I am a veteran.

I was a correctional officer, a firefighter and a paramedic working on an ambulance all at the same time.

My family and I moved to deep deep south Texas 9 years ago to be near family which have by now moved away....darn!!! The kids are now all grown up and wife and I are now moving into being alone with out our kids.

  • So sorry to hear of all that you have suffered. I actually move away to be close to family about 3 years ago. Shortly after, my son moved back to where we are from. Last week he and his wife just had our first grandson. It really is sad to now be 3 hours away from them. So, I can relate to where you are at in life. Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing you around the forum.
  • Welcome to SH. Where are you at in ur treatment? Any upcoming surgeries or is prognosis "just live with it"? Hope you find some relief and look forward to seeing you around.
