I have three ruptured discs at 4-6 with a nerve pinch that radiates down my right arm. It has been more than a year with every treatment possible from chiro to pt and injections. Nothing has been a success so far and I guess I am looking a surgery. I'm reading the blogs and they are a little scary. Has anyone actually gotten better with the surgery?

  • Hi Welcome to Spine Health, I'm sure you will get help and suggestions on this board.
maybe you should post in the new member area first, just a suggestion.
I wish I could help you but I haven't had surgery yet. Patsy
  • Hi there. I have not yet had surgery, but I know where you're coming from. The people on this forum are generally ones who have had problems and need support. That doesn't mean there are no successes, it's just that once a person has a successful surgery, they don't need the support that you get here so they don't return.

I will be having ACDF 3-lvl C4-7 on Oct. 21 and have talked with quite a few people who have had success and are very happy they did it. They also said that, from what the know now, would do it again.

Really, there are more successes than not, so keep that in mind. Personally, I'm very excited to have mine so I can have success and move forward without pain or pills.

Good luck to you and PM me if you want to talk "Positive Attitude" or need support in the future. >:D<

  • I have herniated C5&6 and am doing everything I can to avoid surgery, however I have one of the best NS in the Central NY area. He says this surgery is about 75% successful in relieving all pain and never have another problem. Well that sounds pretty good to me but Im still going to put it off as long as I can. A woman I work with had her surgery done almost 10 yrs ago, she said other than feeling the scar on the outside of her neck she has never had any problems at all, (she doenst like the "feeling" of the scar) lol big deal right?? she had 2 level fusion with cadaver bone.
