chiropractor question

I went to a chiropractor for treatment on my lumbar herniated disc at L4-L5. They were also doing treatment on my neck because I have such a large curve from years of working on a computer so they were doing a lot of work on my neck as well.

Well after 2 months the treatment they were doing on my back was acutally making my disc symptoms worse in my lower back and the nuerosurgeon told me to quit going to avoid further damage.

Since i stopped going and now ever since then ive been getting a lot of pains, cramps, and knots in my neck, shoulders, and upper back, and the pains are also in both arms and hands. When I wake up in the morning my upper back, neck, arms, and hands are extremely stiff and i get a lot of random pains in my arms and knuckles of my hands along with tinglyness, numbness, and twitching in my hands, arms, and fingers. My arms seem to get random cramps when i use them a lot like typing as well.

My question is could this be from the chiropractic treatment with my neck. Could they have maybe herniated a disc or pinched a nerve in my cervical region? Or is the pain from my body trying to adjust to not being worked on anymore and how long does that take? Its just adding more stress to my life and ive had nothing but stress ever since i herniated my back. I appreciate you time and your comments on my situation.

  • It is a possibility. My experience with a chiro was I went in with two bulges at c5-6 and c6-7 and left with an additioanl bulges at c7-t1.
You need to get a MRI of your neck and get some help for it. Physical therapy and accupuncture works wonders for me.

    Best Wishes,
  • I also recommend you request an MRI or at least let your neurosurgeon know what's going on. I think it's more likely that he made the situation worse as opposed to the fact that your body is adjusting for not undergoing any treatment. You shouldn't feel worse as a result of that or at least I wouldn't think so.
