I have been home for this is my second day and I have to say I feel a little better since having a shower. Please do not attempt this without help. I used my bath seat and an old hair cutting cape on backwards..lol. I got up and walked around a little and believe me when I say a little. I was exhausted after doing so, therefore I am back in bed with my laptop. The surgery that I had was my 3rd for a ruptured disc at L4/L5. It is always good to hear from people going through similar experiences.

surgeries: january 06 laminectomy January 08 revision, hemilaminectomy, foremanotomy, discectomy, fusion without hardware donor bone. October 08 discectomy L4/L5, facet fusion.

  • Melanie, dear...! 2 days out from your 3rd spinal in a very short time...GO SLOW!!! Yikes!! I sure hope you were not alone while taking your shower....!! But I understand how great it feels to "clean up"--LOL about the cape! Super Woman, you are!

My heart goes out to you! Now please promise to take things slow & easy! I also had 3 major spinals (within one year) & man oh man....!!

I wish you the very best w/ your fusion recovery...may you heal "uneventfully" as they say & go on to better days!

Glad to hear you are in BED w/ a laptop...avoid sitting for now & just REST! It just takes time & you must go slowly!

All the best to you! And isn't always such a treat to get into your own bed again! :)

  • Hi. Thanks for the words of encouragement.I definitely had help with the shower. I am fortunate to have my mother live next door so she is of great help to me. Also, it feels great to be home. The pain meds were great in the hospital but having peace and quiet is Great.
