Hi! I'm a 38 yr. old female who is having neck issues that are really affecting my life and style. I'm not happy about it but I am learning to live with the pain and am trying to view the cup as half full along the way. :)

I don't know how or when I injured my neck, but it began hurting about a year ago. I finally met my pain tolerance max. about 4 or 5 months ago and went to an Orthopaedic Surgeon after 3 failed Chiropractor appt's. When I say 'failed' I mean I left there crying and never got any relief only more pain. :/
Long story short I have DDD in C5-6 with minor arthritis showing via MRI and central disk protrusion at C6-7. My neck had a chronic 'kink' in it and I was experiencing left shoulder and upper arm pain. 5 cortizone injections later, it is better but my neck is still pretty bad. I can now add daily headaches banded in the base/back of my head from ear to ear to my list of discomforts. I'm to see a pain specialist later this month.

I just wanted to say Hi! to others experiencing similar issues and offer my support and well wishes from someone else experiencing chronic neck pain. I hope to meet some new folks and learn from others.

  • I am so sorry to hear about your cervical issues. I used to have severe neck pain (could hardly hold head up) and I can definitely relate to your pain. Hopefully you will find some relief from PM doc that you will see. Even if the only thing that he can do is give you meds, it is much better than suffering. Good luck to you and please keep us posted.
  • :) hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. i assume your problem cannot be helped by surgery. mine cannot be helped either. using conservative measures can offer some relief. your pain specialist should be able to help you with this. i am sure your appointment seems like it is so far away. i know i find it hard to wait and cannot believe they treat pain patients that way. :T anyway, good luck with your future pain treatments. Jenny :)
