Hi everyone. I am 11 days post op from L4 L5 discectomy with facet fusion. I went to my NS today to get my staples removed and they only removed 4 staples because I have a seroma and they had to drain fluid with a syringe. He said that if he removed all of them we may have an open wound to deal with. he sent me to the hospital to have an x-ray and culture the fluid. I am suppose to see him again the end of the week. Is this normal? anyone else had this problem. Also I was doing alot better until today and wow, the muscle spasms and pain have hit me hard tonight : (

  • Hi Melanie,

I don't have any experience with a seroma but there are a few people here who have. Hopefully they will stop in soon and share their experiences with you. I am waiting to find out if I have an infection myself. Mine is on the inside (if there is one) so I have been doing all the reading I can to find out more. I hope they are able to get you straightened out soon and that you heal quickly! This is a great site for information and offers a wonderful sense of comradery. Hang in there!
