This is probably a stupid question. But i had my surgery back in september after wearing my tsol brace and it not working, so I had T6 - T10 Laminectomies and fusion, and T8+9 Kyphoplastly. I finally had my brace off the other week, and im just starting physical therapy. I just wanted to know with everyone else out there. I Know its still kinda soon in my recovery but does the pain ever go away. I start college in jan and right now i'm so nervous with anything i do and i know you have to be very back conscious after having that kind of a surgery but does it ever go away or am i always going to be like that?

  • My surgery was in aug. My doc just told me yesterday that I can take my brace off...wean off of it I should say. I feel a TON better in teh area of my surgery...the rest of my spine is still shot though-I go for injections next week. hang in there!
  • Hi Jackie, wow you had a big surgery! I just wanted to say that brace weaning and starting PT often brings on new aches and pains as our muscles have gotten weak from immobility in the brace. I would say it does get better, but it is a long road. I am not pain free at 13 weeks from a one level fusion. Will I ever be? I don't know, I kind of doubt it, but I can walk without limping now and my spine is stable, so I am okay with that. Good-luck, give it time, you are very fresh out still from a huge surgery. Take care, >:D< Cali-Sue
