Ok well i went to see my OBGYN on Tuesday, firstly i was supposed to see a woman doctor..but he clearly wasnt her, then found out that the woman i was supposed to see had gone 'walkabout' and no one knew where she was and he was covering her clinic. Anyway, i went into his office and he asked me why i was there and i got straight to the point 'I want a caesarean section because of my back problem' he looked very confused and then said 'well u cant have a caesarean section because uhave a sore back, lots of people suffer with bad backs' i was completely confused then looked down at my notes and realised why he had no idea what i was talking about....the bloody idiots had given him my notes from 2007 and not this years ones with the information about my operation in it. I explained to him abut the operation and how i never really had time to recover when i fell pregnant so soon after the operation. I also explained that my consultant would be willing to write him a report and give his opinion. I am so fed up because no one wants to make a decsion..even though i want a caesarean not my consultant or my OBGYN has the balls to turn around and say 'ok i agree with you lets do the caesarean' its all ; well im going to wait for a request from your OBGYN' or 'im going to write to your consultant...come back in 6 week we should know then!' The other thing that really bugged me was the fact that everyone who has had a bad back or a spine operation immediatly thinks they know exactly what you are going thru, i dont mean to sounds disrespectful here but how can a 60 odd year old consultant who has had a stenosis done about 15 years ago know what a 23 year old pregnant woman who had a dyneses in Feb this year is going thru...surely the 2 types of pain we are feeling are completely different??
He then proceeded to give me a little mini lecture on how i should just try and block the pain out like he does and that he thinks me talkin about it would make it worse....im sorry i didnt realise u were a specialist in babies and on the spine! Sorry...rant over...lol just needed to vent. Anyway thought i would update u all on whats going on....pretty much nothing until the 16th December.

  • A good doc that really listens and does not claim to know all is very hard to come by. Is it possible to change ob's?
