I had lumbar spinal surgery 9/23/08 going thru the front and the back. I had Thorax spine fusion with screws and plates placed in my back. The incision was re opened 10/10/08 thank goodness no infection but had 3 JP tubes to drain excess fluid. As of today only one drainage tube remains and still have some staples.

Have been doing physicl therapy for 3 weeks. Now I am experiencing alot of tightness around the front incision site and raidating around. I need to talk with someone about how long this pain will last. I have been taking my pain pills and they do not take care of the tightness. Will I ever be able to relax again?

  • I had ALIF/PLIF 9-23-08 and both my incisions have healed fine, fortunately. I cannot offer alot of advice other than to call your surgeon Monday am and ask them for advice. Good luck to you, and remember its one day at a time! Best of luck to you! :)
