Scheduled ALIF L5-S1 today - yikes

As scary as the prospect of surgery seems, the thought of living with low back pain, nerve pain and a long list of meds that sometimes work and always have side effects, well, that actually seems worse to me right now.

D-day is January 20 so plenty of time to prepare. My biggest challenge will be not letting myself freak out.

  • You're right, and I've been thinking about if for awile already! [The fact that I can talk about it without crying tells me that I'm mentally ready to take this step, this is my own personal litmus test.] Still, going to continue to educate myself, but try not to thing TOO much about it and freak out ;)) ;))
    Hope its warm enough in San Francisco for some walking in early Feb!!
