i am under pain managment for a deteriating facet joint in my lumber region.

3 days ago i had my annual radiofrequency done but had to had it on both side this time, the pain was really bad this time but i stuck with it. because they use xray machines to see exactly where they are working my Dr saw somethin on the left hand side of my spine, between L5/S1, she said there was a seperation but mentioned nothing els to me, she was really busy on my back and i didnt want to interupt her and forgot to ask her about it after (as b4 the surgery they gave me a cocktail of pills to relax me).

i have asked the question on the pain management forum but only got 1 response just telling me to go back and see my Dr, but i just feel really fed up that there is something els wrong with my back. i am 35yrs old and been suffering with this facet joint problem for 8 years now, i am on arthritec, tramadol (max dose), ametriptaline, and diazapam, now i am just wondering at what time in my life will i have to abandon the crutches and buy the wheelchair.

sorry to moan just feel a bit down :(

  • Unless you go back and see the doctors, get a correct diagnosis how can they help.

Facet Joint that is so bad you are nearly in a wheelchair. Doesn't sound quite right to me.

Can you get a second opinion?

You are allowed to feel down with pain, it is ok but you do need to keep focus and control of your life in order to be on the "up" quest for recovery.

So hows about the second opinion? A fresh set of eyes. You ought to have an Ortho or Neuro on your case as well as pain managment.
    Good Luck
  • :) it's ok to feel FED UP. then grab hold of yourself and do what needs to be done. it sounds like a fresh pair or eyes couldn't hurt one bit. a new outlook on your case is called for. step forward and prepare to battle. good luck and i hope you find pain relief soon. Jenny :)
