I just had surgery for "Complete Back Failure Syndrome".
I have to wear a JEWETT BACK BRACE every day for 24 hours for three months.

Any body have any experience with this contraption?
Staying clean under it.
How to put it back on if it comes off.
What to do about red skin, and pain under the top part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • I have never heard of that type I imagine its like a turtle shell brace right???

If that is the case. Alot of people have worn T shirts underneath them to help with comfort, sweat, itching etc.
Mabye some corn startch powder as long as your incision is covered.

As for pain under the top part. Mabye someone can run out to a fabric store or like Walmarts fabric store and get a peice of lambs fuzzy material you wouldn't need that much.
Just like people put ontop of their crutches when they have them. That would help the comfort part a bit so its not hitting your skin or chest to much.

How to get it back on if it falls off I have no clue on that one :?

I imagine others will have ideas also that have worn a full brace!!

Good luck, hope your not feeling to bad tonight. ;)
  • I PM'd you a link.

  • Thanks for the advise. Some great ideas there.

It seems that everyone but me knew that I would have pain when I got home.

Well it hit tonight, and I hope it is just a reaction to my cleaning up the apartment.

Severe pain with tears from both eyes.

  • I'm sorry you're in so much pain from overdoing it. Take care of you! Bye for now. Charry

  • The good thing is, that once the pain subsides, you'll feel better because the apartment is clean. Crazy how that works.

  • Let me give you a piece of advice that a very nice doctor once gave to me not so very long ago. "Be good to yourself. We have only this one life to live." I know it's hard for you but please leave the cleaning to someone else for the moment. Be good to yourself first.
