  • at L4 L5. I have had it for at least 10 years but they never really made a big deal about it - more the herniation part. I have since heard (on this site) that a tear is very painful..and I agree, but out of the many specialists I have seen, none were very concerned about the tear.
I am scheduled for an ALIF in about 10 days.

  • Hey I have an an annular tear and bulge at L5-S1 as well. I'm scheduled for an ALIF on monday. everything they have thrown at me hasn't help yet. Keep your head up things will get better :-)
  • Hi, I had an annular tear at L4-5, along with the spondylolisthesis at this level. It progresses after a year or so to just being severely dessicated, so tear no longer really showed up. A tear can leak substances on your nerves that are very painful. Check out the chirogeek website for lots of interesting info. I'll link it here. Goodluck, Sue

  • I have an annular tear also with L5-S1 herniation with disc material in contact with the nerve. I know it's very painful. Sorry you're having more problems now. Are the Drs suggesting surgery again? Injections have helped my sciatica alot as well as Lyrica. Take care of yourself. Charry
