Hi I am Nancy and just had a facet block done 4 weeks ago(lumbar area)been doing PT and doing well...now it is starting to wear off and I am concerned that I am going to be in pain again...I have degenerative arthritis and went to a doctor who specializes in the spine... now I think that I should get a second opinion...and see a Rheumatologist??? I need encouragement...so tired of being in pain...been dealing with some sort of pain for several years...help :/

  • Welcome to spine-health....
  • Thank you for the welcome I am feeling sad and discouraged today appreciate the welcome...I think emotionally it is a let down when you start to feel better and then things start to seem to slide again...I am trying to focus on the positive...just tired of feeling down about not feeling well...

  • I'm sorry you're facet block is wearing off. I just had facet injections and they helped a little but will be reassessed in January. I'm sure your Dr. would refer you to a Rheumatologist if you asked him. If you're having numbness and pain down your legs the Pain Management Dr. usually does epidurals to stop the sciatica. I also got a 2nd opinion Pain Management Dr. so that may be good if you're concerned about the neck injection. I hope you have less pain soon. Take care. Charry
DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
  • From my experience when I first saw mine about my neck pain caused by DDD, and I was told they did not deal with wear and tear arthritis. Just the autoimmune disease I have. Maybe you see a back specialist who can provide you a wider range of treatments or refer you to have whatever you need. Take care
