So i went to get X-rays for lower back pain. I have sacrolitis. I dont understand why though. I am 20 yrs old and active. Anyway my back gets stiff when i sit to long, or stand to long. I didint go to a doctor yet i scheduled an appointment , cause my M.D doctor is an idiot. He told me opposite of what my X-rays said. He didint have the Xrays just results, the same i got and he diagnosed me with something else.He told me i have severe arthritis, where exactly said i minor. How can i treat this? What steps can i do to help the pain? I dont do anything now. Not much active. I am a full time student, so i am going to do a lot of sitting. Any advice would be great.

The pain started like this. I was playing basketball, and got this back pain. I assumed was from sitting to much. SO i played everday and it went away some. Then one day was really bad. I could barely move and do activiteies during class for labs and such.

This is exactly waht it says on diagnoisis

1. Mild degenerative changes involving the bodies L1 and L2.
2. Mild bony sclerotic changes adjacent to the left sacroiliac join probably due to mile sacroiliitis

I have pain in my sacro joint also but my doctors always says its coming from my lumbar spine, but i feel grinding and inflammation when i move or turn a certain way and it gets really stiff.... I live on my heating pad...lol.

I hope you feel better and i hope you get the answer your looking for soon.

  • I would def get a new Dr. And maybe get a MRI and a referral to a Rheumatologist and Orthopedic Dr. Take care. Charry

  • I too have sacroilliac pain. I just had SI injection on the right side last week and it helped for 2 days and I am still in pain. I had a fusion L5/S1 that was supposed to help with the pain, however it didn't. I would get a second opinion. Don't be discouraged by what I've said. You may want to consult with a pain management specialist and consider injections, that's just my opinion. It is hard dealing with back pain at such an early age. Mine starting getting worse when I was 20-21. I've always had back pain even as a child but not too bad until I hit 20's. The docs never took me serious, saying I was too young to have these problems. It's possible that I have permanent nerve damage because of the delay in treatment for all those years that I was "too young" to feel that way. Please do not settle for that answer and push for a solution. I will pray for you and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns you may have. This is a great site and I am glad that you joined. This is a lot of helpful information and everything you can think of to research on spine-health here. Please be sure to do as much research as you can and get copies of all your results so that you can research the info on your own. You will be your best advocate.
  • How are you feeling now?? Have you had any new tests? Are things with your doctor any better?
I've been dealing with SI pain for over 2 1/2 years. I've had physio, accupuncture, massage, spinal injections,SI injections and now I'm getting Botox for the pain and spasms. I've seen a physiatrist, neurologist, urologist, orthopedic dr,chronic pain doctor..etc. Don't give up!! Stay positive. I truly believe positive thinking goes a long way!!!

  • So the injection didnt help? I had three of those and they are the worst! Worse than discogram, I think. Any news on you? Been thinking about you. I also have arthritis of scarilliac and it is painful. Not as bad as my back. Think my surgery has made it worse though.
