Reading some of the posts here I see a few have applied and not been approved yet. It took me 3 years...state had a massive back up of cases. I was of course denied the first 2 times, which I think is about "normal", but when I had a video hearing with the judge, I was approved there and then. I had not yet had my back fusion,it was scheduled tho, but that was a major topic in the hearing..have a few other medical problems that also were in my favor of winning. I also had a super great attorney firm that was always right on the ball with gathering medical info. I was afraid of my age, 43 at the time that would go against me. I know it is a horrid, long wait but it can happen and I hope it does for each of you traveling down that road. For those with children who may not know this, if you win, your children will also recieve a check, about half of what you get, depending on the amount of children that money will be divided equally between them. I have one minor son, so he gets the total amount of half my monthly check. Thank God I won, it enabled me to leave an abusive marriage...without it I would have had no choice but stay...state help would not have been enough to live on. Please dont give up, I know its a nightmare waiting for the hearing but with the medical records it is quite possible to get your due. Happy Holidays to all.

  • This info is so right. You have to hang in there because they will try to block you every inch of the way. Get a good attorney because you will need one. It took me 2 years to the date that I filed. The back pay was so nice and needed, also medicare is like a weight lifted off my shoulder. Don't give up, that is what they want you to do. Good luck to everyone.

  • What a brave lady you must be! Good for you for getting out of that abusive marriage. =D> =D> So many women feel they can't leave because they cannot support themselves.

I'm sorry you had to go on SSDI, but God works in mysterious ways, huh?

    You go, girl!!! >:D< >:D<
