Please can anybody help.I had a car accident nov 2008,i was the driver andwas hit in the passenger side.A first i pain in my neck as though i was tensing it,then i have had pain inmy forearm since. It has been on and off,I had physio and they said they thought it was nerve damage from my spine.I started swimming and it has got very much worse, keeping me awake at night and painful when i breathe under and around my rib cage when taking a deep breathe.i have had a mri done of my upper spine and a nerve test on my arm and they have come back clear.Anybody had anything similar?

  • Are you seeing an orthopedic surgeon or pain management Dr? I would also get the chest pain looked at. Take care. Charry
DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
  • Where you treated after the accident? What were the injuries when it happened? Have they done a cervical MRI?

I too suffer from @ the rib cage pain as well, and like you the mri of thoracic was clean, but do have some troubles in my neck.

Sometimes tests are run and nothing shows, but that rules out some items that may be your problem. Are you doctors willing to investigater further or is this the end for them?

  • Hi...I had a very similar experience in MVA and was driver and T-boned on passenger side..I would ask the same about MRI's of both cervical and thoracic...4 months after my accident I have been experiencing arm pain and thoracic pain/throbbing...They have started me on gabapentin which is for nerve pain and has greatly helped my arm pain...Arm pain I think is usually linked to cervical issues...A
