Disc Pressing Hard On Nerve Root

I was first diagnosed with DDD last June. Evidently the problems had been building for quite a long time before that. I've had the worst pain in my left arm from my hand to my neck for over two years. I think its going on 3 years now.

My MRI's say I have osteophytes thru the whole of my cervical spine. I have stenosis as well. My neurosurgeon told me I have an unusually narrow canal. The area that is causing symptoms is at the C5-C6 level. There may be some at the C-6 to C-7 level too.

I had an MRI at the end of June of last year as well as an EMG. I had an EMG this past week too. Last week my DO said my condition had become much worse. He said he does not believe surgery will make me any better at this juncture. The only reason will be to keep my condition from progressing any further.

I've been having increasing problems (new to me) where my hands shake a lot, including my fingers. My DO basically said I have permanent nerve damage. I see my neurosurgeon one week from tomorrow (March 2nd I think).

I'll update you all then. But it looks like I'll have to go for SSDI. This is what my Claim Manager of my LTD says too. Well, I will be 57 next month. I have type 2 diabetes. So, it won't surprise me if this is the way things go.
