My orthopedic surgeon wants to do a microdisectomy, but will that help the severe back pain in my upper back-Thorasic area?

  • You are having thoracic pain - b/w shoulder blades, etc...but the problem in you spine is in your lumbar? Honestly curious - they didn't find anything in your cervical or thoracic?

  • 4mm bulge in L5-S1 but I my symptoms are severe in the T-spine and C-spine. My PM docs, ortho and chiro have all explained it to me like this-
Lower back hurts, so upper lower back is tightening to splint and keep from being in pain. Due to the splinting, the T-spine is now compensating trying to keep from causing pain, which then causes the C-spine spasms.

I've found that ESIs have really helped calm down the spasms of the upper back and decreased the pain in the lower back caused by inflammation.

  • I also have referred pain in the thoracic midback from the lumber disc and arthritis in the facet joints. Due to the disc most likely? Good luck with the surgery. Charry
DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
