Ok I have several small bulging discs from t7 - t10 as well as spondylosis from t6 - t10, and disc degeneration from t6 - t12. also I have a kyphosis curve of apox 48%

I have pain that is now constant on the right side of my spine apox t8ish it radiates around my rib into my sternum and when it is really bad it spears through me and radiates around both sides. the constant pain goes from a 6 to a 8 the bad pain is a 10. I have been to 3 surgeons (not that I want thoracic surgery) & they all say the pain is not coming from my discs. but they can not tell me where it is coming from. I cant move my right arm I can't bend I am at my wits end. I can point to the spot of pain and it is where I have a disc problem how can it not be a disc. I have had several epidurals, facet injections, a rhyzotomy (spelling?) an intercostal nerve block all of which helped the last one the intercostal nerve block lasted 2 weeks. But no body knows where the pain is coming from ahhhhhhhh!!!

where do I go from here???????????

  • It's rough you're having so much pain and they can't find the source. That must be difficult for you. I'm sorry to hear your cry for help. It's only natural to feel that way and you're not alone. There are others here who had thoracic issues or surgery if that's the source of the pain.
Are you on pain meds? It sounds like your pain is bad and you need to review your meds with your Dr. I would keep looking. Is there a hospital near you where there is a NeuroSurgeon who specializes in thoracic surgery. You can usually check the hospitals online. Your Dr should refer you to those kind of Drs I hope you can get some help soon. Take care. Charry

  • charry,

yes I am on meds they do little to nothing :( the dr is very conservative when it comes to that. I will be searching for a new pain dr but this one signed my Short term disability so I don't what to go anywhere yet ;)

Unfortunately there are NO thoracic specialist in the state (FL) that anyone knows of, and they say that the discs are not impinging on anything so no need for surgery. They say that thoracic surgery is not worth doing unless they can't make you worse. :??

  • I also have started to get severe pain in my upper back and neck. The past few days it feels like I broke a rib or something and it hurts to breathe. I have 3 herniated disks in my lumbar and just found out I also have several bulges and herniations in my thoracic spine. Just icing on the cake I guess. Did your injections help you? I really dont have any advice but I do sympathize with you.
