Hello, I have posted before and have a couple of quick questions. I am 34 year old male, recently retired cop after an on duty motorcycle injury 4/07. ACDF C6-7 7/07. Anterior Posterior L4-L5, L5-S1 10/07. Most of 08 was okay except for constant low back pain. 2/09 woke up with severe pain in neck and arms went numb. MRI showed severe herniation C7-T1. ACDF C7-T1 on 2/18,

One week post-op I slipped walking my youngest daughter down the stairs at home and landed on my ass. Since then, I have had severe pain in my middle back, neck. This pain is the worst I have had. I just had an MRI of Cervical and Thoracic. Saw my surgeon on Friday. I have a severe herniation of C4-5 and T-7-8 and T8-9. I have horrible pains when going to the bathroom and legs go numb after sitting for too long. Dr says surgery is imminent. He ordered two Epidurals for this week to try to curb the pain. He said I am close to Myopathy and am going to need the surgeries.

I was wondering if anyone has had these Thoracic surgeries? If so, how was the Thoracic portion. Pain, hospital stay
Any input is welcome,

  • Sorry to hear about you falling with your child. You are in some pretty bad shape it sounds like. I haven't had the surgery but I hear it's pretty rough in that area so be prepared for a pretty long recovery, especially the thoracic. I hope your epi's will stop some pain as I will be getting one next week and is my only hope besides surgery on the t8-9.
