Just curious if anyone is out from fusion surgery as far as me, and still experiencing a lot of "different" pains? I'm still in pain when I roll over in bed, I get an incredible shooting pain that knocks me off my feet if I stand too long. Shaving my legs sitting in a bathtub, still puts me on the couch for the rest of the day, and the next day. (Feel like I lifted way too much weight after sitting in tub) I still have a dull throbbing pain, I still cannot vaccume, (hubby does it) I can, but it puts me down on the couch. I have an awful sciatica pain that shoots from my butt cheeks, down the outside of my hips through my thighs to my kneecaps. ALWAYS!! I still have to take around 4 percocets per day, I've tried going without them, and the pain is unbearable!!

My last visit (long time ago) to my NS and x-rays shows total fusion. I went through 6 months of PT, I walked 1-1/2 miles per day for 8 months. My original sciatica pain that use to shoot all the way down to my toes (before surgery) is gone, yeah!!

I know my limitations, weight carrying, bending, twisting etc... and I just don't go past them, I've basically accepted the new "change in my life" after many many tears.

Do you spose this is what I'm left with? This is as good as it gets???? oh boy...

  • 2 level 360 ALIF 11 January 2007. The pain I had before surgery is gone, but replaced with a whole new set of pain. Back on narcotic pain killers. I will not have another procedure. I'm just learning to deal with it and go on. Life is to short to restrict myself. I won't do somethings (roller coasters), but overall Im trying my best to keep up with my kids and other activities.
