one week after surgery

I had my C5/C6 fused a week ago. Recovery is going well, not on any pain meds just muscle relaxers. I'm writing to insure hope for individuals who are scared about getting the surgery. I logged before surgery and was petrified on all the negative results on post op. Everyone is different. Good luck

  • Looks like I'm about a week ahead of you - I was doing great after my surgery until I started physical therapy - now I'm so sore - different - muscle soreness upper torso through neck. And, wake up with bad headaches. Went off all pain meds and trying to go without - but feel like I'm back where I started before the surgery - just a different kind of pain. Called the doc today who advised I take both the muscle relaxer and pain reliever (non-narcotic) until at least PT is over. Just getting discouraged.
  • the one good thing about pain meds is that they will allow you to do more physical therapy which will get those muscles back in shape more quickly...
