I hada 2 level spine fusion (L4-S1) about a month ago. NOw when i go to stand from laying down sometimes my back just gives out on me and luckily every time i have fallen backwards onto my bed. I am curious as to if anyone else has this problem and if it is normal? I have called my surgeon and i am just waiting for a call back. Thanks

  • I have not had my back give out on me at all. I have had maybe three (total) severe jolts of pain in the year since surgery. The rest is just aching stuff (which the tingling and burning of nerve pain). I've tripped a few times and have been lucky enough to catch myself, but haven't fallen just from my back giving way. Sounds like something is not right. Good thing you have a call in to the doc.

    3 level spinal fusion, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1, November 2008. Stiff, but I can walk.
