6 monthes post ALIF/PLIF and feeling going backwards!

Hi Everyone,

I'm almost 6 months post op and feeling like I'm going backwards..Been in extreme pain in in my low back..I was shopping and without any signs was walking outside and there it was extreme pain..Each step was difficult and painful..I have been up each night since back to taking meds,loosing feeling in my legs ect..

I'm having trouble driving,sitting,sleeping and know even walking..


spondylolisthesis at L4-5; stenosis,
Lumbar surgeries 1999 L4-L5
Lumbar staph infection 1999-2000"
Meningitis x5 in 1999-2001
Brain shunt 2000"
Brain shunt removed 20001"
ALIF/PLIF fusion 8/5/09


  • I would definitely call your surgeon and let him/her know what is going on. Most of us have setbacks during recovery,(you had a BIG surgery) but yours definitely need to be checked out. Just my humble opinion, good luck....Lisa

  • Thank you for your reply Jellyhall and Lisa..I did put a call in.He is putting me on muscle relaxers and 800 mg of Motrin..I'm a little concern beacuse it doesn't feel like spasms..I'm going for the reconstructive CAT SCAN this Saturday..Hoping and praying that I'm beginning to fuse

  • What is a reconstructive CT scan??
  • It is a CAT SCAN that I guess shows the reconstruction process of the bones,fusion and hardware. My Dr said only this hospital has it..I honestly don't know what the difference is between this one and a normal CAT SCAN..

    all I know is I have to go almost 1 1/2 hrs away to get it!! It's in Boston..
