Chronic Back Pain after Surgery

Ok so I had a L4-L5 fusion 5/23/06,it worked for about 6-7 months and then I reinjured myself. I had a Neurostimulater placed 9/15/09 without any low back pain relief. Granted it does help the sciatica down my right leg. I am on 6 different pain meds a day plus a med for depression and fibromyalgia. I am 31 and have a 9 year old and a 17 month old. I am so dicouraged and depressed its not even funny. My docs are talking about a double fusion this year above and below my previous fusion. What should I do? Has anyone else had this problem? I can bearly take my 9 year old to school let alone care for my littlest one. I have been dealing with this pain for 15 years, have had 8 steriod, nerve block injections without relief and have also done 8 years of physical therapy. I have also done message therapy and taken every med under the sun. Anyone have any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Do you know what is the reason they are recommending fusion at this point? Do you have further disc damage or stenosis?

I cannot tell from your post what type of doctor is directing your treatment. It sounds like you are on too many pain medications for anything to be working properly.

Are they talking about removing the neurostimulator if they do the fusion?
