  • Your procedure is probably called microdiscectomy (a very common way to treat a herniated disc), and IDET annuloplasty - I believe they use electrical current to try to promote healing of the tear. It can only be done if there is one tear that is of a lower grade. it can have excellent outcome depending on patient selection - I do know one person that had it and could go back to very physical professional sports.
    There is a video on this site of IDET and one for microsdiscectomy -check them out. You do still need to take it easy for several weeks.
