I had a fusion done in 03 at c6-c7; the disk above that went bad sometime in 07. The doctors didnt send me for second opinion until June of last year, after much complaints on my end. Found out then that I was in need of another fusion at c5. The doctor that I seen said that cigarette smoking caused the disk to go bad. Has anyone else had a doctor say this to them? I have been struggling to quit since then. I had to stop before the doc would do the surgery. I did great for a while then fell off the so called wagon and started up again.
I had the second fusion done Sept 10. I felt great post op for about a month; but am starting to get some numbness down left side again. Some neck bulging feeling on the right side of neck. I went back to work two weeks ago and some lifting is neccesary for work; I know this is not a forum for medical help, but just opinions. So I ask has anyone been told that about smoking? and has anyone felt the bulging feeling in their neck? I feel like I am imagining this, but I know I'm not.
