I was just recently in the hospital with kidney pains and was given a dose of Toradol. Found out I had kidney stones. This pain his horrible and barely bearable. I'm worried the pain will come back and I'm just curious as to how long Toradol will last.

  • TORADOL (ketorolac tromethamine), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is indicated for the short-term (up to 5 days in adults), management of moderately severe acute pain that requires analgesia at the opioid level and only as continuation treatment following IV or IM dosing of ketorolac tromethamine, if necessary. The total combined duration of use of TORADOLORAL and ketorolac tromethamine should not exceed 5 days.

It's hard for me to say just how long your dose of Toradol might last, as I don't know how you were administered the drug,ie; oral,IV,IM, but I have heard that a dose of (in pill form) Toradol orally peak effect is within 2-3 hours and can provide relief for as long as 8 hours, but should not be used for more than 5 consecutive days. It's really bad for the liver and kidneys. There are plenty of safer alternatives in my opinion, but this is a drug that many ERs offer for kidney stones and I think that ought to be a crime in itself., even though it helps pain, the side effects are many and harmful-harsh effects on the hepatic and renal systems. That is if one is weighing the risks vs benefits, which is not always the case when suffering in extreme pain.

  • I have had a severe epidural Steroid headache ( I know this because I have had one before) when the Dr. Injected, she missed and I felt the most severe pain and pressure in my head, I screamed! She dosed me with Demerol and 20 min. Later sent me home. When the meds wore off, the pressure and headache are back. I called and the hateful nurse said she was busy and I should take Benadryl and later this afternoon she would call me in some Torodol. Anyone have this before?
