Now the ortjo has reffered me to Neuro and Neuro has asked me again to go for diffrent MRI and another 2 nerve root test. I am totally confused and frustrated because of this pain and don't know the what problem I have, some people says I am having Sciatica, some says Fibromyalgia. I dont understand whats going on with me. Due to this pain my whole life style has changed, I dont go anywhere because of the fear that my pain get worsen :-(
Any suggestion will be appriciated.

  • Welcome to Spine Health.

If you have insurance and can afford to go for the new mri's do so. Not everything will be seen on mri (it happens all of the time), also sometimes things start out slowly and progress. What may have appeared to be very minimal last year could be significant this year. I just had new MRI's after 9 months- the changes are significant on my films.

The fact that the NS ordered 2 nerve root tests prove that he see's something that notes further investigation. This is a good sign in my humble opinion.

As for fibro- I have heard many people being misdiagnosed for fibro when they had serious spinal issues. It might be a good idea to rule out the spinal cord injury before seeing yet another doctor.

Getting a proper dianosis can take a very long time and can be difficult. Try to be patient and stay positive. On my lumbar problems once I started seeing my pcp about it, it took 17 months of PT and injections before I found a NS who figured out my problem.... It was a special x-ray called a flexion/extension and an mri combined that finally did it.

I would defiately follow up with the new NS. Are you taking any meds for the pain?

    Good luck,
